Voor het gieten van aluminium, wat ik dus ook in eigen werkplaats doe, gebruik ik vaak MDF mallen.
Is dit nu 3D frezen? Nou nee niet echt helemaal, noem het maar 2,5D want er is tenslotte wel iets van reliëf.

Deze pagina bestaat niet uit een uitleg over het aluminium giet proces, al is het filmpje redelijk duidelijk.
Voor het maken van de aluminium Autobot logo’s zoals hieronder had ik dus een houten mal nodig.

Dit begint allemaal met een ontwerp, het beste hiervoor zijn vector bestanden.
Maar heeft u alleen een plaatje, een idee of een schets? Geen probleem.

Uiteindelijk is dus van het plaatje hierboven, (wat een dood normaal jpeg bestand was)
een model ontworpen met een reliëf, welke daarna op de freesbank kon worden gemaakt.

Met deze mal heb ik dus een afdruk kunnen maken in ‘vormzand’ om vervolgens te gieten.
